In the Case of Emergency ...
The Health Center staff encourages students to notify parents/guardians of their medical emergency or hospital visit. If a student is referred to the a hospital Emergency Department by the Student Health Center staff, he or she is offered a "Release of Health Information" form to sign to authorize disclosure of health information to the student is encouraged to notify parents/guardians. There are situations where the Student Health Center staff will contact the parents/emergency contacts directly (without a signed release) including:
In the event of a life-threatening illness, the student's parents/guardians will be contacted directly by the Student Health Center clinical staff.
