Microsoft makes its basic suite of Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) available for free from the iPad App Store. While these apps can be used to read, edit, and create documents simply by setting up and logging in with a free Microsoft OneDrive account, the apps' complete set of features are only unlocked when you have a paid Microsoft Office 365 annual subscription.

To assist faculty and staff who wish to use Office for iPad apps, the ITS department has established a pilot program that will provide an Office 365 account at no cost to University employees. Please note, however, that these accounts do not come with any ITS or Help Desk support; they are being offered simply so that users can use the Office apps to their fullest without having to bear the cost of a subscription. 

To obtain and activate an Office 365 account from the University, please follow these instructions:

1. Download the Office 365 Data Storage Policy.
2. Sign the form, either digitally or physically, and if necessary, scan it on the University's Canon copiers to obtain a PDF file of the form with your signature.
3. Send a ticket at itshelpdesk.fairfield.edu with the Subject Line Office 365 Access Request.  The electronic version of the signed Data Policy Form must be attached.

You will receive a notification from the easyVista Ticketing System when your Office 365 account is ready for use.

Install and Sign Into to Office

1. Open Jamf Self Service or the App Store to install the Office applications you wish to use.

2. Launch one of the Microsoft apps to sign in.
   

3. Upon the App's first launch, you will have an opportunity to Sign in to PowerPoint via Office 365.

4. If this is your first time using the app, choose whether or not to allow Notifications, then tap Create and Edit Documents to continue.

Connecting to Your Cloud Storage

If you signed into an Office 365 account, your linked OneDrive storage will appear automatically.

1. To add addition Cloud sources, including your Fairfield DropBox account, tap Open, then + Add Storage Account
   
2. Select the storage account you wish to connect.

To link your Fairfield Dropbox account, choose Dropbox, enter your Fairfield Email address, and tap Continue. You will be prompted to authenticate with your Fairfield Net ID and current password.
