Fix: "Unable to establish secure connection to Zoom"

Problem: When opening the Zoom app you see an error message: "Unable to establish secure connection to Zoom". After following these steps the Zoom desktop client will reconnect and work normally.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open your web browser and go to : fairfieldedu.okta.com

  2. Sign in with your Fairfield username and password.

  3. In the my.fairfield dashboard, click the Zoom tile to open the Zoom web portal.

  4. Or go directly to the Zoom portal : fairfield.zoom.us/profile

Once you are signed in to the Zoom web portal

  1. In the Zoom web portal, find and click Settings in the left-hand menu.

  2. Under Settings, find the section Mail & Calendar.

  3. Under Mail & Calendar, look for Calendar and integrations and click Edit, Manage, or Configure (depending on the page wording).

  1. In the dialog that opens, select Office 365 as the calendar provider.

  1. Click Next and allow Zoom to connect to your Office 365 account when prompted. You may be asked to sign in again or approve permissions — accept/allow those steps.

  2. After the connection finishes, close the browser tab and relaunch the Zoom desktop application (quit Zoom completely and open it again).

  3. The Zoom app should now connect normally and the "Unable to establish secure connection to Zoom" message should be gone.
