macOS upgrade – Tahoe (macOS 26)

macOS upgrade – Tahoe (macOS 26)

Apple released its new operating system (macOS Tahoe) for Apple computers this fall (Note: Apple is updating its OS versioning to align with the upcoming calendar year—hence, macOS 26 follows macOS 15). ITS has reviewed this operating system and is recommending that users upgrade. After upgrading to macOS Sequoia you may see an Apple Setup Assistant windows (Intelligence message, Welcome to Mac screen…)  (click "Continue" for any messages).

Tahoe adds Widgets to the desktop, you can add, remove, or change them as needed. Please see this Apple link for details: Add and customize widgets on Mac

As always, please back-up all important data prior to upgrading and check for specific application compatibility

If your Mac is not compatible with Tahoe macOS (does not show as an option in Software Update) please upgrade to the latest macOS your system is compatible with.

For best security ITS recommends updating to the latest OS your device is compatible with.
