If you've forgotten your iPhone passcode, this guide explains how to reset your device to regain access.

Please note that this process will erase all data on your iPhone, though you can restore your data afterward if you have a backup.

Summary of Reset Methods

1. For iOS 15.2 or Later

If your phone is running a modern version of iOS, you can often reset your passcode directly on the device without needing a computer, provided the phone is connected to a network.

2. For Older iOS Versions (Computer Required)

If you cannot reset directly on the device, you must use Recovery Mode via a Mac or Windows PC:

  • Step 1: Turn off the iPhone. For Face ID models, hold the side button and a volume button, then slide to power off.

  • Step 2: Enter Recovery Mode. Connect your iPhone to a computer while holding the Side button. Keep holding it until you see the recovery mode screen (an icon of a computer and cable).

  • Step 3: Restore. * On Mac: Open Finder, select your iPhone, and click Restore.

  • Step 4: Set Up. Once the process finishes, the "Hello" screen will appear, and you can set up your iPhone as new or restore from a backup.

Important: If the software download takes longer than 15 minutes, your iPhone might exit recovery mode. If this happens, simply let the download finish, then repeat the power-off and button-hold steps.
