Java Fix for Banner

Please Note

Java 8 Update 171 is not compatible with Banner. If a computer has Java 8 Update 171 installed, downgrade to Java 8 Update 161 before attempting to change these settings.

Contact the Help Desk for assistance with the downgrade.

Windows Instructions

  1. Click Start in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen

  2. Search for "Configure Java"

  3. On the General tab, click "Settings" under Temporary Internet Files


  4. Click "Delete Files..." toward the bottom of the popup window


  5. Check off all three boxes then click "OK"


  6. Click "OK" on the next screen


  7. On the Security tab, set level to "High" and make sure https://inbprod.fairfield.edu:8890 is in the Exception Site List



  8. On the Advanced Tab, uncheck all SSL and TLS boxes under "Advanced Security Settings' except for "Use TLS 1.0"


  9. Click "OK" to save all etttings and close the Java Control Panel

Attempt to access Banner by going to my.Fairfield through Internet Explorer and selecting the appropriate task.

Mac Instructions

  1. Click the Apple icon in the top left-hand corner of the screen.
  2. Select "System Preferences..." and then "Java" in the bottom row.
  3. On the General tab, click "Settings" under Temporary Internet Files
  4. Click "Delete Files..." toward the bottom of the popup window
  5. Check off all three boxes then click "OK"
  6. Click "OK" on the next screen
  7. On the Security tab, set level to "High" and make sure https://inbprod.fairfield.edu:8890 is in the Exception Site List
  8. On the Advanced Tab, uncheck all SSL and TLS boxes under "Advanced Security Settings" except for "Use TLS 1.0"
  9. Click "OK" to save all setttings and close the Java Control Panel
