Fairfield University is currently evaluating two widely-used polling applications: Mentimeter, which has been utilized by faculty for several years, and WooClap, a recently introduced tool at Fairfield. Both applications provide comparable functionalities but feature distinct user interfaces. For inquiries or to provide feedback, please contact academiccomputing@fairfield.edu. Based on the feedback from faculty members, the university intends to select and implement a site license for one of these tools.

Mentimeter

Mentimeter is presentation tool used to create to create formative assessments, spark discussions and test knowledge with fun quiz competitions. Mentimeter is all online and can be used to create presentations with real-time feedback.

Setting Up Your Account

1. Go to https://www.mentimeter.com/

2. If you have an account, choose Log In. If you are new to Mentimeter, choose Sign Up and follow the steps below

3. Enter your information and choose Sign Up

4. For the next question, choose Education and Educator

5. Select your main goal

6. Choose the Free account

WooClap

Wooclap is an interactive presentation tool designed to boost audience engagement and participation. It allows educators and presenters to create polls, quizzes, word clouds, and more; collecting real-time responses from participants.

Setting Up Your Account

1. Go to WooClap

2. Enter your email to create a local account

3. Enter your information and choose create account

4. For the next question, choose Higher education

5. Choose your position

6. Fill in the account setup and click get started
