Collegiate Health Service Corps (CHSC)

The Collegiate Health Service Corps (CHSC) is a health career club at Fairfield University. The CHSC mission is to expose undergraduate students to health careers through service learning experiences that promote preventative health care. The CHSC is facilitated by co-advisors from the Fairfield University Student Health Center and AmeriCorps members through the Southwest Area Health Education Center (AHEC). The required service training is provided to club members by AHEC.

Examples of on-campus CHSC health outreach programs include:  presenting health topics to Fairfield University students, organizing an annual health fair and participation in weekly meetings with structured learning experiences on pertinent health topics. The CHSC also partners with various other groups on campus to promote health and wellness education to the university community. Officers are elected annually.

Several benefits of membership in the CHSC include:

  • Improved knowledge of health careers

  • Participation in meaningful service

  • Gain experience in the health care field
