Since Spring 2022, Zoom cloud recordings have automatically been backed up to Kaltura My Media. For recordings older than XX, ITS recommends downloading the files you wish to keep from Zoom and uploading them to Kaltura.

Warning

As of February 1, 2023, Zoom cloud recordings older than 1 year (365 days) have been automatically be sent to a trash folder for 30 days before being permanently deleted.

Seven (7) days before the files are deleted, Zoom will generate an email notifying you that the recordings will be deleted unless you choose to restore them. The email will come from No-Reply@zoom.us and look similar to the following message:

You have recording(s) that will be permanently deleted in 7 days, please click the link below if you want to restore the recording(s).

This policy does not apply to Zoom recordings stored locally on your computer.

Backing Up Your Zoom Cloud Recordings

  1. Log in to Blackboard at fairfield.blackboard.com
  2. Go to Tools in the base navigation
  3. Choose Kaltura My Media

    Note

    The first time you open this module you will need to Allow this Integration.


  4. Select Add New in the top right; then select Media Upload

  5. Choose a file to upload

  6. After uploading, enter the following metadata:
    1. Name (this will be displayed to viewers). We recommend using a descriptive title as this will be useful later on if you re-use the video in a class.
    2. Description (optional)
  7. After the video has fully uploaded, choose Save.
  8. Select Go To Media to view the Video Editing screen to update the metadata or captions, or choose Go To My Media to view your full My Media collection.

  1. Go to fairfield.mediaspace.kaltura.com
  2. Select Guest
  3. Select Log in and sign in with your NetID
  4. Select + Add New
  5. Media Upload: Upload an existing video from your computer files
  6. After uploading, enter the following metadata:
    1. Name (this will be displayed to viewers)
    2. Description (optional)
    3. Publishing Status:
      1. Private - only you have access as the content owner unless other collaborators have been added
      2. Unlisted - video is only visible to people with whom the the link or embed code have been shared/posted.
      3. Published - the video will be automatically changed published when they are embedded in a Blackboard course.
  7. Select Save

To view media already upload to Kaltura on Kaltura MediaSpace:

  1. Select Your Name
  2. From the dropdown menu, choose My Media.
