This article will assist you in setting up a network printer to your University Windows or Mac OS X computer.
Overview of Printing
- Network Printers vs Local Printers.
- Network printers are printers that can be accessed by multiple people over the network.
- Local printers are printers connected to a single person's computer.
- Network printers are only accessible via the FACSTAFF-S wireless and the FACSTAFF wired networks.
- The name of printers are determined by the location and model of the printer.
- For Windows, printers must be setup by accessing \\hermes64. For Mac OS X, printers must be setup via the IP address.
- Non-university computers should not be used to connect to network printers.
- Canon multi-function printers/copiers are managed by Ryan Business Systems. Please contact them regarding issues for the Canon Copiers.
