Microsoft Loop
Microsoft Loop supports real-time collaboration via tightly integrated collaborative components.
Here's how it can be used effectively:
Collaborative Note-Taking
Group Projects and Research
Faculty-Student Collaboration
Assignments and Peer Review
The 3 elements of Loop
Loop workspaces are shared spaces that allow you and your team to see and group everything important to your project, making it easy for you to catch up on what everyone is working on and track progress toward shared goals.
Loop pages are flexible canvases in the Loop app where you can bring together people and all your components, links, tasks, and data. Loop pages can start small and continue to grow to match the size of your ideas. Loop pages can be shared across Microsoft 365 apps as a link or an embedded Loop component.
Loop components are portable pieces of content that stay in sync across all the places they're shared. Components allow you to collaborate in the flow of work—on a Loop page or in a chat, email, meeting, or document. They can be lists, tables, notes, and more—you're always working with the latest information in your preferred app, such as Microsoft Teams, Outlook, OneNote, Whiteboard, or the Loop app.

Creating a new Workspace
Use ‘My workspace.’ Your default Workspace to learn Loop.
To create a new Workspace,
Click the ‘+ Create New’ button and select ‘New workspace.’
In the window that appears, enter a title and then click the ‘Create' button.
Creating Content
Pages and subpages
Add pages to organize your Workspace. Think of it as pages in a notebook. Use different pages to organize your content. You can also add subpages to refine your main page topic. A ‘Untitled’ page is created for you by default.
Create new pages
Click the ‘+ Create new’ button in the Loop main navigation area, or hover in the Workspace content hierarchy pane and click the ‘Create new page' button.
Give the page a name in the Workspace canvas where you see ‘Untitled' and press ‘Enter' on your keyboard.
Hover over a created page in the content hierarchy and click on the ‘More Page options’ button.
Here you can create subpages, share just that page, share Loop components, rename and style your page, rearrange your page to change the order or make it a subpage, duplicate, add this page to another workspace, save the page as a temple or delete the page altogether.
You can also left-click and drag pages within the content hierarchy to rearrange them too!
Adding Content
To add text, just start typing under your page title.
Highlight your text and a formatting toolbar will appear to provide formatting options for your text.
There is also a expand/collapse button at the end of the toolbar that will show even more options for that highlighted text.
To add built-in content, hover over your text and just to the left of the text, click the ‘+ Click to insert below’ button or type the forward slash ( / ) to also open the content menu. Scroll down the content menu to see the available options.
After content is added, click the ‘Click to open' button/block handle to the left of the top of the content to reveal a menu that will allow you to manipulate that particular content. Each content will have its own properties to manipulate.
Creating Components from content
Any content in Loop can be turned into a Component. Components can be shared, copied and you can always see who has access. They are portable in that you can share them somewhere else. The location of a Component is always in a Loop Workspace.
Creating a Component
Select specific content on the page,
Select the ‘Click to open' button/block handle to the left of the top of the content and select ‘Create Loop component.’ The content will now have a color border around it with a Loop icon on the top-left with the title ‘Component #.’
The Component title is also a link that allows you to open just that component in a browser.
You will also have a component toolbar in the upper-right corner which will show you:
Shared locations - Where this component has been opened and the option to add this component to another Workspace.
Copy component - allows you to copy the component to another location.
See who has access - allows you to see who has access to the component.
Five common uses for Loop components
Co-authoring: Real-time updates in the supported apps.
Brainstorming: Ask others to share their ideas. Use a bulleted or numbered list component to help stay organized.
Compiling data: Send out a table component with clearly labeled columns and rows. In each cell, describe the data you need and @mention the person you believe can provide it. You can also use a table as a simple sign-up sheet.
Managing projects: The task list component offers a lightweight way to assign work with due dates to people (Be sure to @mention them so they’re notified about the task.) When work is completed, each person can mark their task as done.
Focusing a discussion: You can use a component as a “mini breakout room” to have a place to focus on a single topic while the main chat thread covers wider ground. This is especially useful when you’re trying to reach alignment and make decisions.

To access notifications in Loop, select the ‘Bell’ button in the navigation area of the landing page. This will show you all notifications and you can filter too. Select a notification and it will bring you to the item where action is needed.
A few Discussion tips
You can always select any content and hover your cursor there briefly to see who contributed to that part of the discussion.
Pin the message to your component for as long as your discussion is active, so it’s easy for everyone to get back to. Within the comment, go to More options, then select Pin. You'll find your message pinned to the top of your chat.
