Zoom AI Companion Features & Settings
On Wednesday, October 15th, ITS identified a change in Zoom's global settings that unintentionally turned on the Zoom AI Companion feature for all meetings by default. This change was traced back to October 9th and was reverted to off by default on October 15th.
As a result, all meetings hosted by Fairfield University staff, faculty, and students with licensed Zoom accounts had the Zoom AI Companion turned on at the start of their meetings between October 9th and October 15th. While a pop-up notification appeared informing participants of its activation, we understand it might have been easy to miss. We recognize concerns surrounding user data and privacy, and we want to address them directly.
The Zoom AI Summaries were emailed to meeting hosts only after the meetings ended. By default, it is up to the meeting host to share AI Summaries with meeting participants. As a host, you can review all of your meeting summaries by signing in to Fairfield.zoom.us and going to the Meeting Summaries tab.
