Backing Up Bookmarks
Google Chrome
Overview: Two ways to back up your Google Chrome bookmarks. This is useful when rebuilding your computer, or when importing bookmarks to a second computer.
OPTION 1 - Using Chrome:
1. Click on the three dots on top right corner> Bookmarks > Bookmark Manager (alternatively press CTRL + SHIFT + O)
2. Click Organize > Export bookmarks to HTML file...
3. Select a location to save the file and click Save.
4. You now have a backup of your bookmarks that can be imported into another Chrome browser.
note: to import the HTML file, simply follow the steps listed above clicking Import bookmarks from HTML file... instead of Export.
Mozilla Firefox
Overview: Two ways to back up your Mozilla Firefox bookmarks. This is useful if when rebuilding your computer, or when importing bookmarks to a second computer.
OPTION 1 - Using Firefox
1. Click Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks (alternatively press CTRL + SHIFT + B)
2. Click Import and Backup > Backup...
3. Select a destination to save your backup file and click Save
4. You now have a backup of your bookmarks that can be imported into another Firefox browser.
note: to import the JSON file, simply follow the steps listed above clicking Restore instead of Backup...
Safari
1.In the Safari app on your Mac, choose File > Export > Bookmarks.
The exported file is called “Safari Bookmarks.html.”
2. To use the exported bookmarks in another browser, import the file named “Safari Bookmarks.html.”
To import bookmarks from chrome or Firefox into safari visit safari/import-bookmarks-and-passwords
Microsoft Edge
Option 1- Using Edge
1.Click on the three horizontal dots on the top right side (alternatively press CTRL + SHIFT + O)>Favorites> again click on the horizontal dots
2. Click Export favorites
3. You now have a backup of your bookmarks that can be imported into another Edge browser.
note: to import the HTML file, simply follow the steps listed above clicking Import bookmarks from HTML file... instead of Export.
