Duo: Initial Phone Enrollment

Prerequisites

Make sure your phone is running a supported Operating System (OS).

Have your computer and phone available to complete the initial phone enrollment.

Enrollment

Follow the written steps below or watch the following video to learn how to set up Fairfield University’s Duo MFA.

 

  1. On your computer, visit the Fairfield University Duo Device Management Portal
    https://ffuduo.login.duosecurity.com/devices

  2. Login with your NetID and Password

    Note: If you’re prompted to update your browser you can either do that now or skip it and update it later.

  3. Click “Get started”

  4. Click “Duo Mobile”

  5. Enter your Phone number and click “Continue”

  6. Verify the correct number exists under “Is this correct”

    1. If it is correct click “Yes, it’s correct”

    2. If it is incorrect click “No, I need to change it”

  7. On your phone, download the “Duo Mobile” app and then click “Next” on your computer.

  8. On your computer screen you’ll see a prompt to scan a QR code.
    Keep this page open as you’ll need to scan the QR code that appears on your computer screen into the Duo Mobile app on your phone.

  9. On your phone, open the newly installed “Duo Mobile” app.

  10. Tap “Set up account”

  11. Tap “Use a QR code”

  12. Using your phone, scan the QR code that appears on your computer screen.
    Note: The screenshot below intentionally does not contain a QR code.

  13. On your phone, keep the default Account name of “Fairfield University” and tap “Save”

  14. The “Fairfield University” account show now appear within the Duo Mobile app on your phone.

  15. On your computer screen, click “Continue”.

Test The Duo Mobile App And Verify Your Phone Is Enrolled:

  1. On your computer screen, click “Log in with Duo”

  2. You’ll see a verification code appear.
    Keep this window open on your computer screen.

  3. On your phone, enter the “Verification code” that appears on your computer screen and tap “Verify”.

    Note: If you see a prompt to update your phone’s operating system version, please update it at your earliest convenience.

  4. You should see your newly enrolled phone appear in the Fairfield University Duo Device Management Portal.

  5. You should receive an email confirmation that a new device was added to your Duo account.

Verified Duo Push

It is highly recommended that you use Verified Duo Push. If your Duo Authentication requests are not using Verified Duo Push, below are the steps you can follow to use it.

Am I using Verified Duo Push?

To help you determine if you are already using Verified Duo Push, below is what a Verified Duo Push looks like:

Steps to Switch to Verified Duo Push

 

If you’re not currently using Verified Duo Push, below are the steps you can follow to use it.

  1. When prompted to use Duo, click “Other options”
    Note: The image below shows a Duo passcode authentication. Instead, our goal is to use the Verified Duo Push option.

  2. Select Push

  1. Computer Screen
