Duo: New Phone
If you purchased a new phone, in certain scenarios, you can use the Duo Device Management Portal to activate Duo Mobile on your new phone.
Questions To Answer Before Proceeding
Do you have your old phone?
Yes: You should be able to continue to approve Verified Duo Push notifications on the old phone until you activate Duo Mobile on your new phone. Proceed with the instructions below.
No: Proceed to the next question below.
Do you have a secondary backup device registered within Duo?
Yes: You should be able to continue to approve Verified Duo Push notifications on your secondary device until you activate Duo Mobile on your new phone. Proceed with the instructions below.
No: Please contact the ITS Help Desk for assistance with activating Duo Mobile on your new phone.
Prerequisites
Make sure your phone is running a supported Operating System (OS).
Have your computer and phone available to complete the phone enrollment.
Steps To Activate Duo Mobile On Your New Phone
On your computer, visit the Fairfield University Duo Device Management Portal

Note: If you’re prompted to update your browser you can either do that now or skip it and update it later.
Click “Other options”
From the Device menu, select your old phone or backup device
Click Duo Push
You’ll see a verification code appear.
Keep this window open on your computer screen.On your phone, enter the “Verification code” that appears on your computer screen and tap “Verify”.
Note: If you see a prompt to update your phone’s operating system version, please update it at your earliest convenience.
Locate your device and click “I have a new phone”
Click “Get Started”
On your phone, download the “Duo Mobile” app and then click “Next” on your computer.
On your computer screen you’ll see a prompt to scan a QR code.
Keep this page open as you’ll need to scan the QR code that appears on your computer screen into the Duo Mobile app on your phone.On your phone, open the newly installed “Duo Mobile” app.
Tap “Set up account”
Tap “Use a QR code”
Using your phone, scan the QR code that appears on your computer screen.
Note: The screenshot below intentionally does not contain a QR code.On your phone, keep the default Account name of “Fairfield University” and tap “Save”
The “Fairfield University” account show now appear within the Duo Mobile app on your phone.
On your computer screen, click “Continue”.
