Switching from ClamXAV to Symantec EndPoint Protection

ClamXAV on Apple computers is being replaced by Symantec Endpoint Protection. The installer for Symantec End Point (SEP) and uninstaller for Clam will be pushed out to university owned computers from ITS when the machines are on campus.


While on campus Mac users  should do the following:

1) Connect the computer(s) to the University network via the Ethernet cable or by joining FACSTAFF-S wifi (ethernet is preferable as it will be faster)

2) Log into the computer (if is not already logged in).

3) Restart the computer(s). The computer may appear to hang or be delayed on the restart (the install is occurring, please do not force a shutdown).

4) Once the computer restarts (and the user is logged back in) please check to see the Symantec shield icon () on the menu bar (near the top right of screen), it may take a minute or two for the icon to show after you log in.  If icon is not displayed, please retry the above steps again. If it still doesn't appear please contact the Help Desk for assistance.
